It's a big car seller, but why are parts so weak?

Although China has been the world's largest car market for nine years in a row and the market share of its car brands is close to 50 per cent, the industry remains weak.

Since the official large-scale entry of domestic cars into Chinese households in the millennium, China's automotive industry has also been driven by the huge domestic demand in the Chinese market and has won the position of the world's largest automotive industry in just a few years. Behind this is the prosperity of the entire basic industry driven by the entire automotive industry. Annual sales of more than 25 million vehicles, it is true that no country can easily achieve.

At present, the products of local brands have reached a considerable level both in products and in the market. Local brands are not slow in their pursuit of joint ventures. But even so, China's auto industry and its local brands still don't have the capacity for self-improvement, and there is still a long way to go.

Sales, auto parts

This problem lies in the parts industry. It can be said that there is not yet a strong enough component system to support the development of Chinese cars in the entire automotive industry.

In March, the 2017 global list of top 100 auto parts suppliers came out unsurprisingly, with Bosch group in Germany continuing to top the list with revenues of more than $46 billion, while Zephyr, also a German gearbox supplier, rose to second place. The parts companies from the third to the tenth are Magna, Electric, Mainland, Mobisi, Hyundai, Fogia, and Lear.

If we look at the countries of the top 10 auto parts companies, we see that their counterparts include Germany, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Canada. With the exception of Canada, all the other big car exporters are mainly export-oriented industries. The Canadian Magna Group, in essence, is also rooted in the North American automotive industry system.

In this ranking, China's component companies ranked the highest in the Yanfeng car interior system, and then reached the 71st place in CITIC Card. It is worth noting that the Chinese short-listed component companies are dominated by single components. For example, the main product of CITIC Day Card is the hub.

The Bosch, Magna, electric parts and other parts companies are comprehensive parts and components companies. The products involved include all parts and components of the vehicle's power, chassis, body, and electrical appliances. Magna can even provide complete vehicle development and complete vehicle production to the main machine factory. For example, the development of the entire vehicle is done by Magna.

Unfortunately, so far, there has not been such a comprehensive supplier of auto parts within the Chinese auto industry. By contrast, the weak state of China's parts industry is clear.
